Lauren Matlach Joins Rhode Island League of Charter Public Schools as its First-Ever Director of Communications and Policy

PROVIDENCE, RI – The Rhode Island League of Charter Public Schools (RILCPS or “the League”) announced today that Lauren Matlach has joined the organization as its Director of Communications and Policy. This new role will be charged with leading and implementing the League’s internal and external communications strategy as well as supporting policy tracking, analysis, and development, with an emphasis on advancing the League’s legislative engagement.

“The new role exemplifies the League’s commitment to full-time, in-house policy and communications expertise,” said Chiara Deltito-Sharrott, Executive Director of the Rhode Island League of Charter Public Schools. “With her extensive experience working in education policy, including her time with the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE), Lauren brings a wealth of knowledge and passion for improving education for Rhode Island’s youth.”

Prior to joining the League, Matlach dedicated a combined 11 years to policy and educator development at RIDE and the American Institutes for Research after beginning her career as a classroom teacher. She led statewide educator workforce initiatives, facilitated professional learning, increased access to high quality instructional materials, and strengthened program approval processes. Most recently, as a subject matter expert for AEM Corporation, she provided support to more than 200 grantees across five federal programs and supported policy design and implementation in eight states, spanning a variety of areas, including student attendance and community engagement.

“It is a privilege to step into this inaugural role at the League during such a critical time for our public education system,” said Lauren Matlach, Director of Communications and Policy for the Rhode Island League of Charter Public Schools. “My commitment to charter public schools goes beyond the four walls of the classroom, as I deeply value diverse educational opportunities for all children, including my own. I believe it is of utmost importance that families have the opportunity to make decisions about which type of public school will best support their child’s needs.”

Matlach formally began her role with RILCPS on August 18.
