Two Rhode Island charter public schools, Blackstone Valley Prep and The Greene School, were named to the top 10 of U.S. News & World Report’s 2026-27 Best Rhode Island High Schools list. Blackstone Valley Prep ranked #6 and The Greene School ranked #7 statewide.
The rankings show that charter public schools continue to give Rhode Island families more high quality options so that parents can find the right school for their child. Blackstone Valley Prep and The Greene School have two different missions, but both are tuition-free public schools that produce high quality outcomes for students. BVP, which serves students in Central Falls, Lincoln, Cumberland, and Pawtucket, has a mission focused on ensuring every scholar can achieve their goals for college and beyond. The Greene School students come from across the state, which is made possible by the school’s significant investment in statewide transportation. The Greene School’s mission is grounded in sustainability, and the school is the state’s only credentialed EL Education school.
“At The Greene School, learning is active, challenging, and meaningful,” said Lara Haggerty, The Greene School’s 2025-26 Teacher of the Year, in a press release. “In my science classes, we learn not just from a textbook but outside on our campus; we collaborate with local experts and engage in real-world, hands-on experiences. These learning experiences, happening across campus, have translated to excellent outcomes for students.”
